According to my Nature of Science profile, I am a process driven individual. This means that science is seen as a characteristic set of identifiable methods/processes. The learning of these is the essential part of science education.
As opposed to someone who is content-driven. They see science as characterized by the facts and ideas it has and that the essential part of science is the acquisition and mastery of the body of knowledge.
As a process driven individual, I will be more likely to focus on Cluster 0 of the curriculum. I will enjoy science inquiry and the design process with my students. I feel like this is an accurate reflection of how I will approach science in my classroom. While Clusters 1-4 will get covered, there will be as much hands on as possible. This helps kids think deeper about the content and see the results. This will allow them to hold on to the memory and experience longer, which helps them to hold onto the knowledge they acquire.
I’m excited to teach science!!
